On September 19, Minister of Education and Science L. Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Construction and Urban Development B. Munkhbaatar, and other officials attended the opening ceremony of a new wastewater treatment plant in Murun soum of Khuvsgul aimag.
The plant was built as part of the Asian Development Bank’s Southeast Gobi Urban and Border Town Development Project. Advanced treatment plant technologies will enable the reuse of treated wastewater for city landscaping and sewage sludge for fuel briquettes.
22 employees of a local water and sewage company who will be responsible for the plant’s operation are currently undergoing training, and the wastewater treatment plant will be in trial operation for a year.
