On April 8, 2025, Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry Enkhbayar Jadamba presented a report on "Preparations for Spring Sowing" to the Standing Committee on Environment, Food, and Agriculture of the State Great Khural. The report outlined plans to cultivate a total of 655.5 thousand hectares this spring, with a focus on diversifying crop production and enhancing animal feed security. Specifically, the sowing will include 360.7 thousand hectares of cereals, 20.1 thousand hectares of potatoes, 18.8 thousand hectares of vegetables, 141.1 thousand hectares of fodder, 103.7 thousand hectares of oilseeds, and 7.9 thousand hectares of fruit and berries. Minister Enkhbayar emphasized efforts to bring more land into farmland to ensure a stable supply of animal feed, diversify crop rotations, and boost export-oriented production.

Regarding seed reserves, the country holds 45.4 thousand tons of wheat seed, with the majority (35.0 thousand tons) stored in agricultural enterprises. The "Agricultural Corporation" state-owned enterprise holds 3.5 thousand tons, and seed breeding enterprises have 7.0 thousand tons for commercial purposes. Additionally, seven agricultural enterprises have been authorized to import 4.3 thousand tons of wheat seed. To bolster fodder production, the state budget will allocate MNT 1.4 billion for 360 tons of seeds across six fodder crop types. Furthermore, the "Agricultural Corporation" has proactively stockpiled and distributed 1,600 tons of seeds in nine fodder crop varieties on credit.

Recognizing the importance of land preservation, Minister Enkhbayar highlighted a significant investment of MNT 9.7 billion to install 370.8 thousand reinforced concrete poles in agricultural aimags to combat erosion. An additional MNT 1 billion has been allocated to create forest strips across 102.3 km of agricultural land in four locations to improve soil fertility.
