The Ulaanbaatar City Tourism Department has opened a new Tourist Information Center at Sukhbaatar Square, the capital's central point.
The four-season facility's design was created in cooperation with "Ord Ger" LLC, with a modern solution of spherical shape and a prefabricated wooden frame, low heat loss, and energy-saving portable structure, reflecting the national features.
The first Tourist Information Center was launched in 2013. Today, there are seven centers; three provide year-round service, three are active seasonally, and one operates in Germany. The Centers focus on delivering quality and prompt services as the number of tourists is increasing yearly, noted the Ulaanbaatar City Tourism Department.
The Tourist Information Centers provide visitors with information on travel routes around the city, places to visit, top sights in the capital city, one-day city tours, public transportation routes from the airport to the city, intercity public transportation routes, currency exchange offices, attractions, service facilities, and shopping centers. Tourists can get information related to locations, the working hours, as well as information on airports, the international, and domestic flights.
Moreover, instructions on how to get a refund after purchasing duty-free goods, the list of goods, and information on the location, price information, phone numbers, working hours of hotels, inns, guest houses, tourist camps, and resorts, as well as information on places where mobile phone SIMs and data can be obtained, taxi services, medical institutions, emergency services contacts, and applications are available at the centers.
In addition, for domestic citizens, information on the location of government service centers, instructions for using E-Mongolia, a list of information reference hotlines, and information on renewing operation permits are provided.
In Ulaanbaatar city, Tourist Information Centers provided service to more than 15,000 people in 2022, about 17,000 in 2023, and 16180 visitors by the third quarter of 2024.
