About the trip
The early 20th century was the Renaissance period in Mongolia when it came to art, especially Buddhist Art. So much of it was destroyed during the Communist Era, repressed by the soviet influence. What has survived is considered to be the masterpiece of Buddhist Art, acclaimed by Asian collectors and curators. This trip follows the path of Mongolian Buddhism in chronological order, starting from the Erdenezuu Monastery, the oldest surviving temple in the country built on the ruins of Karakorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire. We highlight the wall art of the Erdenezuu Monastery from the 16th century, a simple yet sophisticated depiction of the religious theory, and the architectural delight that combines the Mongolian nomadic heritage along with Asian styles. We attend Buddhist chant and get a private meeting with a monk, who is specialized in Buddhist astrology. Then we continue along the path that spread Buddhism…
